Liquid Rubies

Streams of liquid rubies flow beneath my skin
What a shame it seems to always keep them hid
I think that I shall dig them up and let them go
In trickles first and then in torrents they will flow.
In sparkling floods of rubies I will drown
They will pull me under as now they weigh me down
These rubies are much heavier than lead
Because each one holds a tear I never shed.
Dig, dig, dig, they call to me, and remove all doubt
That you are a weakling. Dig, and let us out.

Too much weight
has to stop make it stop
too many rubies too many tears
too many rubies
Dig.
let them go
in drops in spurts in rivers
so many rubies
And as I sink, the rubies remain
To make clear why I could not stay.
