Flag Salute

Red:
the blood inside my veins
that I will not spill for you.

White:
the corners of my eyes
that turn away from you.

Blue:
the writing on the board
that I focus on instead.

Stars:
the thoughts so far away
that try not to be of you.

Stripes:
the cuts across my arms
that your children do not see

Because
they are far too busy
burning holes into my head

Because
I am not in line.

Do your children love you, flag,
As they love other people?

Or do they love you more?

<-Silence and Lies My Work You Told Me . . .->

When this was on themestream. . . (filler! yay!)
"Today's filler will be about the Pledge of Allegiance. I am an American high-schooler, and I don't say the Pledge. That is my one true challenge to the status quo. Now, don't get me wrong; I don't hate the U.S., I'm just not sure I want to swear fealty to it. And my actions are in no way meant to antagonize my peers, unless it is antagonizing to make people think about why they do little everyday things that they take for granted."
